In celebrating this launch, we also remember the man behind the Pio Cesare wines—the friend who touched our lives with warmth and the cousin whose passion knew no bounds.

Pio Boffa's absence is deeply felt, yet his legacy lives on through his daughter and nephew, the vines he nurtured, the flavors he crafted, and the friendships he cultivated.

  • Supple, ripe fruit, complexity, soft tannins.

  • From a small selection of “nebbioli” from our Family-owned vineyards of Cascina Ornato in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most historical and prestigious areas of the entire Barolo region very well known for great structure, tannins, freshness and longevity.

  • The vinification process is conducted in stainless steel tanks at high temperatures.

    Maceration for 30 days.

    The wine then ages in large oak “botti” for about 30 months; with a small amount in French oak barriques for the first 12 months.

barbaresco “Il Bricco”

  • Big, powerful structure, rich with ripe fruit.

    Soft and spicy.

    Sweet and ripe tannins.

  • From a meticulous selection of the ripest grapes of three different plots in the highest part of our Family-owned vineyard Cascina Il Bricco, located in the village of Treiso. Il Bricco vineyard is characterized by a very high elevation and a very cool climate.

  • The vinification process begins in stainless steel tanks; skin contact and maceration for about 25-30 days.

    Aging begins in large French oak “botti” for about 30 months; for a small amount in barriques as well.

“fides” vigna mosconi

barbera d’alba superiore

  • A full-bodied red wine with notes of ripe fruit, and a touch of spice.

    "Fides", or “faith” in Latin, continues to represent the great longtime faith of our Family in the Barbera grapes planted and grown.

  • Grapes are sourced exclusively from a small selection of Barbera grapes, coming from the oldest vines of our family-owned Mosconi vineyard in Monforte d’Alba.

  • In stainless steel. Skin contact maceration for 30 days.

    Immediately after racking, it ages for 12 months in large oak “botti”, a small amount in French oak barriques as well.

  • A classic-style Barolo.

    Excellent structure, harmony and elegance.

    Soft tannins and balanced fruit.

    Approachable, but with a very long aging potential.

    This wine has been always and traditionally produced by our Family with grapes coming from different regions.

    This is the classic “formula” used by the ancient Barolo Families to produce a wine which embraces and combines each of the unique characteristics of the different vineyards and terroirs of the Barolo area.

  • Our family-owned vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba (Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie), Novello (Ravera) and, since the 2015 vintage, our recently acquired vineyard in Monforte (Mosconi).

nebbiolo

  • The fruit is intense and ripe, but at the same time fresh with very sweet tannins. Nice aroma and longevity.

  • From a selection of our Family-owned vineyards, in La Morra and in Serralunga in the Barolo region, in San Rocco Seno D’Elvio in the Barbaresco region and in Diano d’Alba.

  • In stainless steel; maceration for 20 days.

    In large oak “botti” for 24 months; for a small amount in French oak barriques.

barbera d’alba

  • A uniquely great structure with full body and complexity.

    A notable smooth character, with emphasis on the ripe fruit and spices.

  • Sourced from our Family-owned vineyards in the Barolo region in Serralunga d'Alba (Colombaro) and in Monforte d’Alba (Mosconi), in the Barbaresco region in Treiso (Bongiovanni) and also in the Langhe region in Sinio (Val di Croce, Bricco dello Stornello) and in Diano d'Alba (Carzello).

  • In stainless steel tanks. Long maceration on the skin for 20-25 days.

    The wine then ages in big French oak “botti” for 12 months, with a small amount in barriques as well.

dolcetto d’alba

  • Fresh, fruity and fragrant, with body and structure. Spicy, ripe fruit and roundness.

    Best when served at cellar temperature.

  • Grapes are directly harvested from our family-owned vineyards in Treiso (Il Bricco) in the Barbaresco region and in Sinio (Val di Croce and Bricco dello Stornello).

  • In temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Skin contact maceration for a short period of time.

    Aged in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

il nebbio

  • Red currant flavors and sweet fruit.

    Soft and round tannins, enhancing the fresh and mellow character.

    Crisp and young, with medium structure. This wine ages especially well, enhancing the great Nebbiolo character.

  • Sourced from a selection of our vineyards in the Barolo area in Serralunga d'Alba, in Treiso in the Barbaresco area, in Diano d'Alba and Trezzo Tinella.

  • Short maceration followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

    Aged entirely in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

oltre

  • Nebbiolo, Barbera and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

    The first Pio Cesare “non-monovarietal” wine, for those who love Piemonte’s wines with an international touch.

    “Oltre” is introductory to the greatest classic wines of Piemonte.

  • Grapes are picked from selected vineyards of the family-owned estates.

  • In stainless steel tanks, 20 days of skin contact maceration.

“piodilei” chardonnay

  • Spicy, creamy and intense with a soft but long aftertaste.

    Sweet fruit, hot and ripe, still very fresh with an elegant touch of oak.

  • Sourced from family-owned vineyards “Il Bricco” in Treiso, located in the Barbaresco area, and “Colombaro” in Serralunga d’Alba, located in the Barolo area.

    Since the 1985 vintage, it represents our desire to produce a white wine with the same body, complexity and ageing potential of the great reds historically produced in the area.

  • The grapes are picked in small baskets, then softly pressed at low temperature.

    The fermentation starts in stainless steel tanks and then finishes in French oak barriques, new for only one third.

gavi

  • Fresh and clean, with a spicy aroma.

    Salty, with ripe fruit and rich, complex flavor.

  • Sourced exclusively from hillside vineyards exposures, in a few selected locations of the Gavi area, from family vineyards who have been producing grapes under the guidance of the Pio Cesare Family for generations.

  • Fermentation at low temperature in stainless steel tanks.

    Aged in stainless steel tanks with extensive lees contact.

moscato d’asti

  • Flavors of honey, rich ripe fruit, fragrant and aromatic.

    Slightly "frizzante".

  • Grapes are sourced from old vines in selected vineyards in Santa Vittoria d’Alba, in Neviglie and in Trezzo Tinella.

  • The grapes are softly pressed and partially cold fermented.

    Aged in stainless steel tanks with extensive lees contact. Short bottle age.

“l’altro” chardonnay

  • Very fresh and fruity, with great minerality and a slight note of vanilla.

  • From our Family-owned vineyards “Il Bricco” in Treiso in the Barbaresco region, “Bossania” in Trezzo Tinella and “Colombaro” in the Barolo area in Serralunga d'Alba, which will be replaced in the 2019 vintage with the “Mosconi” vineyard in Monforte d’Alba located in the Barolo region.

  • In stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

    The Sauvignon portion of grapes is aged in stainless steel tanks.

    The Chardonnay portion of grapes are aged in barriques for a small amount time.

“rosy”

  • Bright, amber-colored wine that’s savory and fresh with a great structure.

    Finishes off with a touch of spice.

  • Produced from the Langhe area, with a selection of Nebbiolo and Syrah grapes.

    Sourced from family-owned vineyards in the village of Treiso.

  • The grapes are early harvested and picked in small baskets.

    After a very gentle pressing, the fermentation takes place half in stainless steel and half in French oak barriques.

    Maceration on the skin for a very short period.
